My Crochet Journey π§Άπ
September 13, 2026
I started crocheting in October 2025. But before that, I had already tried making a few headbands and hand warmers. I also tried some crochet kits from the dollar store, but I couldn't understand a single abbreviation in the instructions. My mom even tried to teach me, but I got so frustrated because I didn't understand a single thing that I eventually gave up completely.
A little while later, I started watching crochet tutorials on YouTube, and that's when things finally started to make sense.
The first amigurumi I ever finished was a little chubby ghost. Even though I didn't think it was perfect, I was so incredibly proud of myself. I had actually made something with my own hands, and that feeling was amazing.
It didn't take long before I wanted to try creating my own pattern. And so, in December 2025, my first design, the free Baby Strawberry Turtle, came to life. ππ’
I still remember my first tester call and how frustrated I was when I realized just how much needed to be corrected. I honestly thought designing a crochet pattern would be much easier, haha. But that little strawberry turtle taught me so much. It gave me the foundation to grow as a designer and helped pave the way for everything I'm doing today.
Besides crochet, I've always loved painting, drawing and crafting. But crochet has slowly taken up such a huge part of my life that I barely find time for all my other creative hobbies anymore.
And honestly, my biggest dream would be for this to become my career one day.
I've never felt such a strong passion for an art form before. There is something so special about creating things with my own hands. Seeing an idea that once only existed in my head slowly turn into something real is one of my favorite feelings in the world.
I also absolutely love creating content. My first YouTube account was when I was twelve, and after that, I made so many different Instagram and YouTube accounts that I couldn't even name them all anymore. π
Creating things, whether it's crochet, videos, photos or little projects, gives my mind a place to be quiet for a while.
I tend to overthink and stress a lot, and sometimes I struggle with anxiety and low moods. I also have a bad habit of doomscrolling, which usually leaves me feeling even more unmotivated and stuck. That's another reason why I love these hobbies so much.
When I crochet, my mind feels calmer. A little quieter.
Right now, I'm going through a more difficult chapter of my life, and because of that, coming up with new ideas and being creative has been harder than usual.
In June 2026, I lost a family member due to an act of violence. It changed not only me, but my whole family, and I'm still learning how to navigate everything that came with that loss.
Because of the way my mind works, I often put a lot of pressure on myself. I tell myself that I have to keep creating, keep posting and keep coming up with new ideas, or my community will eventually leave.
But deep down, I know that I'm the only one putting that pressure on me.
So right now, I'm trying to slowly rebuild my passion instead of forcing it.
And even though things feel different at the moment, I can still feel that little flame inside me. It's there. And I want to take care of it rather than burn myself out trying to make it bigger.
I don't know exactly where this journey will take me. But I know that I want to keep creating, keep learning and keep sharing the things I love.
And if you'd like to follow me and my journey, I would be so happy to have you here. Maybe you'll see a little bit of yourself in my story, too. π
Thank you so much for reading and for giving my words a little bit of your time.
See you soon,
